Internship Programme

The Symbiosis Law School, Pune is a top tier institution in the arena of legal education. This prestigious establishment prides itself in developing its students in a holistic manner. This development requires exposure outside the classroom, which is provided through the recognition of the importance of internship experiences, which consequently shape the careers of its students as well. The principal body entrusted with the responsibility of managing and conducting the Internship Process in the college is the student-driven Placement Cell.

Placement Cell, SLS, Pune

From the commencement of the initial year in college to the time a student passes out, the Placement Cell is responsible for assisting and providing internships to students. Working while the student is learning helps to discover their areas of interest, finally through the placement cell that all arrangements of students with their prospective employers are engineered, be it Internship, PPO or Campus Recruitment. The placement cell invites reputed law firms for campus interview and recruitment. Having successfully completed the recruitments for the last batches, it has been resolved that the recruitment process for the current batch of Symbiosis Law School, Pune will be on a rolling basis.

Internship Process

The main aim of internships is to provide a smooth transition from the academic world to the real work environment. An increasing number of law schools require the completion of an internship as a prerequisite to graduation. As the legal field has become more complex and legal employment opportunities have multiplied exponentially, the definition of a ‘traditional internship’ has evolved greatly. The Placement Cell facilitates several different types of internship opportunities such as:

• Pro bono Projects
• Law firm Internships
• Corporate Houses

These programs places students in law offices, courts and public interest organizations with the goal of providing real-world legal experience under the guidance of faculty members, licensed attorneys and sitting judges.

Objectives of an Internship Programme

1. It helps the students in gaining practical experience in a real work environment
2. It assists the students in being more responsive to market requirements when choosing their area of specialization.
3. It increases the awareness of students about the multitude of career options present in the legal world.
4. It assists the development of professional skills and etiquette in a student.
5. It provides an understanding to the students into the working of an organization and an insight into the different legal processes that take place.
6. It also supplements the knowledge of the students that enhances their participation in their classes
